If you’re a handyman, but you find your hands getting chilly in your shop or garage where a repair may be cumbersome, consider this super-easy money-saving idea: make your own solar heater. All it takes is a frame, some odds and ends from the hardware store, and a powerful thirst.
Now you can take advantage of the sunny side of your building by converting that sunlight into heat. This DIYer created what looks very much like an old-fashioned radiator, but is actually a solar wall made by painting used soda cans black and placing them in a wood frame with a plexiglass cover. He also added inlet/outlet channels that he built from wet-vac components to his contraption. Once he set it up facing that sunlight, he managed to raise the warmth in his garage.
