Uneven Temperatures In Your Las Vegas Home?

Here’s the scenario: You’re in your nice, comfortable living room with the temperature set just right. Then you have to get up to go see what the dog’s doing in the kitchen. As soon as you open the door, you turn right around and grab a parka because the kitchen’s thirty degrees colder than the room you were just in. Now that you’ve got the dog taken care of, the kids start squabbling. Down the hall you go, turn the knob . . . and your eyes start watering because a blast of heat cooks the first three layers of your skin!

This scenario, while exaggerated for humorous purposes, really does happen a lot more than people think. When your thermostat’s set to “such and such,” but the temperatures from room to room are noticeably different, it’s time to ask why there’s such a drastic variance. Before you call for air conditioner repair, there are a few things you should check first.

The first thing you should always do is hold your hand up in front of the vents. Many houses have a continuous duct system. This means if one vent is blocked, the warm or cool air will simply flow down to the next vent. This means that the room nearest the furnace will be pleasantly warm, the next room will be suitable for storing frozen pizzas, and in the next you can just set a TV dinner on the counter for three minutes and come back to it piping hot.

If the vent is blocked, you need to find out why. Usually this has something to do with a clogged filter. If you haven’t changed your filters in a couple of months and everyone’s been mostly indoors, this is the most likely culprit and needs to be checked first. However, it’s not impossible that an animal such as a feral cat or a squirrel got into the ductwork and got stuck. Bet on the filter, but keep that possibility in the back of your mind.

An unevenly heated house is an inefficient one, costing you double or even triple what it needs to to heat or cool your home.

If you start noticing this and basic troubleshooting doesn’t fix the problem, it’s time to call in a specialist in residential ac repair. Contact Windy City Air and get your house’s HVAC in Las Vegas working the way you expect it to: Right! Powered by Las Vegas SEO company: ADviseMediaGroup
